Study: My Understanding of Education

Consider an After-School Program for Young Children

One of the most common reasons that parents enroll their children in after school programs is to make sure that the children are kept out of trouble while helping with the overall development of the child through educational and recreational activities. It is important to note that even at a young age, children should also be able to know a lot of things. Taking into context is a seedling of a tree or any plant for that matter. As a seedling is still in the early years of its life, it will be easier to control or dictate the form that the seedling will grow into. This is practically the same case as that of a young child.

As early as preschool or kindergarten is the ideal time for a parent to help their children create their own character as a time much later than this would not be as easier to do. Time will be on the side of the parents in this early years because young children have a lighter academic load in school. Schools usually discuss basic lessons in these earlier years in the academe, therefore, children will have more time to pariticpate in after school activities. This is where parents come in for them to willingly enroll their child in after school programs so as to help their child better develop themselves. Another good thing about this is that a child will learn to be independent from their parent, thereby avoiding too much pampering and spoiling but at the same time, keep the child in check and away from trouble.

Educational activities, recreational activities, and community service are the three categories of after school programs from which a parent can choose from. It would be best to have community service activities for the last, and take up educational and recreational activities in the earlier years of the child. This flow of after school programs can better help the memory of a child, as well as their sense of responsibility before entering college.

Once a child participates in after school programs, specifically educational and recreational activities, their memory and concentration, as well as their other aspects, are greatly developed. Improving and enhancing these aspects at an early year is still feasible especially since it is during these years that these aspects are very strong. The mental aspects of a young child is developed and improved in this activities the same way muscles are improved during exercise sessions.

While some parents believe that educational activities would suffice for a child, there are parents who think otherwise as they believe recreational activities are also a must. Another advantage in these after school activities is that the children can also learn more about various subjects like science, math, grammar, and even vocabulary among others. The child may also pick up hobbies or sports in these after school programs that would help them become more skilful.
